Wynn Las Vegas and Encore today unveiled three 800-pound Tang Dynasty horse sculptures in celebration of Chinese New Year. Two sculptures are located in the Wynn atrium, and one in the garden outside the baccarat room at Encore. The 9-foot-tall, 10-foot-long horses were created by master sculptor Sillipachai "Mod" Toonrud of FORTE Specialty Contractors in Las Vegas and are painted red and gilded in gold leaf.
The artistic representation for the Year of the Horse began nearly 15 months ago and was conceived by Executive Vice President of Design for Wynn Design and Development Roger Thomas. Inspired by antique masterpieces from a private collection, each horse was hand-carved with meticulous attention to detail and encased in fiberglass-reinforced plastic molds. The sculptures will be on display through Feb. 14, 2014.
